We wanted to use smart packaging to reinforce Malibu’s position as a summer icon. So we fitted each bottle with an NFC chip. Turning the packaging into a platform for social engagement and communication.
Being app-less made NFC the ideal technology to place behind the iconic Malibu sunset on pack. But seeing as it’s so new, it was important to guide the users through the experience. We did this using a neck hanger on the bottle and PoS - creating a simple, branded experience.
